Kittitas County Fair
Friends of the Kittitas County Fair Grounds Foundation, founded in 1996, is a charitable non-profit 501(c)3 comprised of local business owners and leaders. The Foundation's mission is to enhance the Kittitas County Fair by providing financial support for educational projects that help our community develop an appreciation for agriculture and our natural resources; that increase awareness of our county's history; and that provide cultural enrichment, through arts and entertainment. The Foundation is dedicated to projects benefiting the fair in the belief that a strong county fair benefits all residents of Kittitas County.
The Friends of the Kittitas County Fair Grounds Foundation is funded primarily from fundraising activities during the annual Kittitas County Fair. Foundation profits support the Foundation's scholarship program, the Fair Family Assistance Program and various annual improvement projects at the fairgrounds.
"Buy a Brick"
How many wonderful, exciting stories can be told about the fun and exciting activities that have occurred at the Kittitas County Fair over the last 123 years? We all know them; we've lived them. It is this annual county celebration that has and continues to shape our lives and community to what it is today.
The Foundation continues this legacy by completing a 4-H courtyard and sculpture project on the grounds of the Kittitas County Fair in spring 2008. The project honors and recognizes 4-H participants and supporters for their efforts at the Kittitas County Fair and in the local community. The goal/objective of this project was not only to recognize but to increase awareness of our county's 4-H program, and its mission to help youth develop leadership, citizenship and life skills that will help them be great leaders today and even greater visionaries tomorrow.
The 4-H Courtyard is a 100' x 100’ area designed in grass, with an inter-circular area constructed of pavers and brushed cement in the shape of the National 4-H emblem (USDA approved).
The Foundation also commissioned local sculptor, Paul Crites, (http://www.paulcrites.com) to create a life-size bronze 4-H pig, which is permanently displayed adjacent to the Kittitas County 4-H courtyard next to the gazebo. Adjacent to the bronze 4-H pig is an educational display describing the National 4-H mission statement and goals, a list of current county 4-H clubs with contact information describing the National 4-H mission statement and goals, associated 4-H county activities and programs, and contact information.
If you would like to become part of our 4-H memorial courtyard, simply make a $100 contribution and dedicate a commemorative brick in the name of an individual, business or special occasion. The brick will be mounted with a plaque inscribed with your dedication or message and become part of the border that surrounds the 4-H clover. The plaque has space for your inscription: 3 lines of 18 characters per line, including punctuation and spaces. Please use only one Brick order form per brick ( 85 KB).
The Friends of the Fair Grounds Foundation thanks you for your generous tax deductible donation. A charitable tax receipt will be sent to you once your payment is received. All brick proceeds go towards the funding of this project and future capital improvement projects at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds. Your contribution celebrates the rich culture, rural history, and community spirit of Kittitas County residents. More importantly, your contribution recognizes the commitment, participation, and dedication of 4-H kids to their projects, animals and way of life.
